Worth knowing

  • Keep the gateway on localhost and reach the dashboard through an SSH tunnel or a VPN such as WireGuard.
  • An SSH tunnel does not replace the gateway's own authentication; keep its token or password private.
  • Run openclaw security audit after changing settings to check you have not drifted from safe defaults.
  • Give the agent only the tools and accounts it needs: anything it can reach, it can act on.

Security

  • Never open the gateway port to the internet; use an SSH tunnel or a VPN.
  • Keep API keys and gateway tokens private, and rotate them if you think the server is compromised.
  • Treat content from websites, emails and messages as untrusted: it can try to steer the agent.
  • You are responsible for what the agent does with the accounts you connect; our Acceptable Use Policy applies.
